DNA Sampling

With your kit purchase, you will get access to our web platform and reports on 20 different traits. You can view our list of current traits here. Our science team is always reviewing the most recent research, and we will communicate to our customers when new markers are ready to be released.

Make sure you don’t eat, drink, smoke or brush your teeth less than 30 minutes before providing a sample, or the sample could fail.

 

Standard shipping time is 3-5 business days.

    1. When you receive your DNA kit, you must create an Athletigen account here.
    2. Click on My DNA and enter the 14 digit barcode on the sample tube in your DNA kit
    3. If you don’t register your barcode, you will not receive your DNA results.

We always provide all DNA kit’s with the necessary pre-affixed shipping documents

  • For Canadian shipments:
      1. Place each tube securely inside the provided bio-specimen bags, and insert into the FedEx envelop
      2. Drop off the envelope to your local FedEx depot
      3. You’re done! Lab results will take 4-6 weeks to process once your samples have been received. We will send you an email as soon as your results are ready to explore.
  • For US shipments:
      1. Place each tube securely inside the provided bio-specimen bags, and back into the Athletigen box. Seal the box by peeling off the sticker on the front.
      2. Drop the box in any USPS mailbox.
      3. You’re done! Lab results will take 4-6 weeks to process once your samples have been received. We will send you an email as soon as your results are ready to explore.

After you log into your Athletigen account online at athletigen.com, click on the dropdown arrow next to your name and choose Account Settings. Click the Data tab on the far right, which will bring up a screen displaying how to download your data.

If you are a 23andme import user, this option is not available. Please login to your 23andme account to download your data from there.

Yes, we currently accept uploads of raw DNA files from 23andme and AncestryDNA. You can create an account here, and follow the prompts to upload your raw DNA file.

Privacy and Data Security

Yes. You own your data and you choose what to do with it. You can download your raw data from athletigen.com and you can choose whether you want to share your data with a coach when he or she sends you a group invitation.

Athletigen is committed to keep the trust you place in us. To prevent prohibited access or disclosure, to maintain information accuracy, and to ensure using the information appropriately, Athletigen uses many  physical, technical, and administrative measures to keep your Personal Information, as it is stated in current standards. In particular, all connections to our website and our mobile applications are encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. All our production machines (including databases) are behind VPC and can only be accessed via a secure VPN network . For added security, our databases are inside a private subnet (within the VPC) making it impossible to perform any brute force attack on the machines directly. There are many more security protocols that we follow and we are HIPAA compliant. If you have any questions at all about data protection and security, we are delighted to talk to you about the measures we take.

Please understand that protecting your Personal Information is also your responsibility. We ask for you to be responsible for keeping your password secure, as well as other authentication information that you use to access the Services. You should not share your authentication information with any third parties and you should inform Athletigen immediately of any prohibited use of your password. Athletigen cannot keep the Personal Information that you release or that you request us to release safe.
